Who knew waiting for a piece of machinery could be so hard!! I called the dealer today and they said my 4310 was shipped on monday and on its its way to Connecticut. He said it would take him a week to get it! Then he said that it would probably be about 3 days until delivery. My question is, where is the JD compact factory? I thought it was in Georgia but it can't be if it is going to take a week just to get the tractor to Connecticut. Perhaps I'm just not considering some out of the way stops before Connecticut. The tractor is already 2.5 weeks past his "for sure" delivery date so i'm a little jumpy.

Thanks for the help

I thought the factory was in Georgia too. Waiting is rough - my 4310 was about 10 days late, mostly due to waiting for non-JD parts. I wanted it NOW. It was worth waiting for though since I haven't stopped smiling since it arrived :) ....

Delay probably is in transportation. I don't know if JD uses their own trucking but it's a pretty complex buz but whether its done in-house or brokered. You can't always make up a load going in the right direction or find space available. Turn the job over to brokers and you lose control over delivery times. Prices for transporting odd lots is really expensive.

The other side of the coin is that a 'for sure' date was offered and it's their fault if it's not met. I don't imagine anybody forced them to make that commitment. ....

Let's see, how many states is there between Georgia and Conn,? One wife in each state, one day visit with for each, an extra day if they have kids together and an afternoon at the park. Would October be ok? ....

Heck! I bought my 4410 off the dealer lot and I still had to wait 5 days while they got a loader and prepped it. You will forget about all the waiting when she arrives. ;-) ....

You probably have to figure if they are going to send a truck out of Georgia its going to be loaded. So the question is not how many states but how many dealerships the driver will have to stop at on the way.

I have a 4110 on order and don't expect it before a month. That way if it shows up early then great but don't want to get my hopes up too much.

I guess that I am not so impulsive. I don't mind waiting, but I want everything done right. Poor preparation and workmanship are what set me off.

There are very few dealers in NM, so pretty much everything has to be shipped in from somewhere. ....
